Doing our bit: Colour Connection and CSR

These days, everyone is jumping on the CSR bandwagon. But when it comes to corporate social responsibility, there are companies that talk, and companies that do. At Colour Connection, we don’t just talk about CSR – we live it. Not to please our shareholders, or – forgive us for churning out the cliché here – ‘because doing good is good for business’. We love helping good causes, getting involved in our community, and having a teeny tiny impact on the environment. We have five strategic areas that keep us focused on achieving our CSR goals:

Equal opportunities

We’re committed to supporting equality and diversity in the way we recruit.

Good relations

Our good relations strategy helps us act with integrity and honesty in everything we do.

Workplace

We’re nothing without our team, and we work hard to take care of them.

Initiatives

We have a number of initiatives that focus on work–life balance and the health and wellbeing of our staff, as well as partnerships with further education providers that enable us to offer training and apprenticeships to young people.

Community impact

We care about the world outside our window. We’re a generous bunch who love giving back, and we work hard – while having fun – to raise money for local charities.

Environment

Printers aren’t known for their eco credentials, so we’ve taken some serious steps to reduce our impact on the environment.

Here are just a few of the ways in which we show the love…

Quality print that doesn’t cost the Earth

We’re proud to hold ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 certification. These quality standards recognise the work we’ve done to reduce our negative impact on the environment.

FSC® (FSC–C104189) promotes responsible management of the world’s forests. We’ve been certified since January 2011, recognising our commitment to printing on paper that’s produced in an environmentally friendly way.

We separate all recyclable waste, including paper and card, plastics, wood, rags, cans and glass.

We use vegetable-oil based inks for our printing. Because they don’t require spirits to keep them liquid at room temperature, they’re a lot better for the environment.

We encourage our clients to use recycled paper for their print jobs, as it saves energy, trees, and valuable resources, as well as reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.

We’re proud of the steps we take to protect our environment, but we know there’s always room for improvement. That’s why we regularly review the way we work to see how we can do better.
